“Looking at the great flow of the great history of human civilization, architecture began with the work of cultivating a place to live against the harsh nature. Nature was a dual object that had to be fought and won while accepting its benefits. As such, architecture is a front-line field in which nature and humans come into contact, and at the same time, it is a representative of civilization. The Ancient-Middle Ages-Renaissance-Religious Reformation-Scientific Revolution-Industrial Revolution are called revolution and development in the history of general civilization, but in relation to nature, they are only the starting point of the full-scale and large-scale destruction of nature.

In this way, today we are going through the period of COVID-19, which can be called the greatest disaster of mankind, and are at the starting point of establishing a 'new order of life' that moves from the loss of 'individual survival' to the recovery of 'community'. Architects identify the problems of the times and reflect the work of improving our lives through technology. The fundamental beauty of life begins with simple daily life without decoration, but respect and harmony with close neighbors, and loving yourself as you are. Author Son said, 'I wanted to find eternal truth and peace that we humans must not miss in the natural world that sometimes struggles and creates itself.'

Peace is never taken for granted. The same is true of the wonders of nature in each of the twenty-four seasons of the year that we take for granted. 『4 Seasons 24 Spaces』 contains the amazing providence and impressions of life implied by nature. Author Son said, 'Among the works of architects who have traveled all over the world and represent the times, there are very few works that only reach the realm of emotion' and 'a space that gives a spiritual resonance and makes people aware that humans are alive and breathing'. I worked to evoke vitality through the juxtaposition of the 24 solar terms in nature.

In addition, Son said, 'In our city center, which is a huge system in which the machine civilization society operates, in order to recover that we humans are not tools of machine civilization but the subject, when we turn our gaze to nature, not urban civilization, which is the currently built system, we can realize how precious and beautiful life is,' he said. It is like the emotion you feel when you look at the sunset colored in strange and diverse colors that cannot be expressed in any language, or the feeling of Mother Nature when you climb a high mountain and see it from the top of the mountain.

John Dewey, the father of modern education, said that ‘nature does not exist statically but rather as a dynamic process created while creating something. It was intended to be solved with a concept.’ And the author Son said, 'We humans were born with the destiny of creating a meaningful new order of life by ourselves in a meaningless life, and this is like a resonance felt not in the realm of intellect but in the realm of intuition and spirituality. We can never remain as accessories of mechanical civilization.'

Whilst there are infinite possibilities to everyday life, how great is the peace of a simple daily life, and in the process, the greatest life is created when you finally put into action the dynamic vitality of your own existential value through the truth. This is not just a dream of youth, but a life partner that we must walk hand in hand with for the rest of our lives. This dream is not a consequential goal but a constant thought that hopes for the betterment of our community throughout our given lifetime. Just like the providence of nature that if you plant a seed in the spring, it will surely bear fruit in the fall, I sincerely hope that you will love the truth of life that we Homo sapiens have and the beautiful life itself that we realize in each season, and I worked 『4 Seasons 24 Spaces』 as a gift to everyone living in this era.”
